10 POWERFUL SKINCARE TIPS
- In the morning, the basic routine is to cleanse the skin, then apply toner, then a moisturizing
sunblock. In the evening, apply one of the various treatment creams such as a vitamin C cream
vitamin A cream, glycolic moisturizer, etc. to nourish the skin.
- Toners should be used in place of aftershaves with high-alcohol content, which can irritate skin.
Also use toner after a shower, as hard water dries out skin, and toners help balance the ph of the
skin. Use toner anytime of the day you need to be refreshed or feel dry.
- Start looking at the ingredients in your skincare products. They should consist of botanicals:
Aloe Vera, Sunflower extracts, Carrot oils, etc. If the product is full of synthetic ingredients
you can’t recognize, it’s not appropriate for your skin.
- Men…shaving with a razor and a shaving cream full of synthetics is rough and traumatic on
your skin. Try using an electric shaver, and only occasionally use a razor when you need
a very close shave.
- Don’t use a bar of soap to wash your face. Many contain beef tallow or animal fat, and will
irritate and dry your skin. Use bar soap on your body in the shower. Cleanse your face with
a gentle liquid professional cleanser. Your skin should not feel “ tight “ after a wash, it should
feel normal.
- Any skin product could possibly trigger an allergic breakout, but professional products have
a minimal chance of this occurring. Still, patch test any product on your neck or arm for
several hours to make certain there is not a reaction.
- Commercial sunscreens are notorious for clogging pores, and irritating the skin, causing
breakouts. Use a professional, moisturizing sunblock.
- Apply a masque occasionally to nourish the skin. Only use professional products. Don’t leave them
on too long, as they may dry out the skin. 10-15 minutes is appropriate.
- Glycolic acid products (also known as fruit acids) are great to revitalize the skin. They will
tingle on your skin as the small molecules penetrate your skin and break up and slough off dead
skin cells. Start with the 5%, then move up to 10%, then 15% strength. Take a break from
glycolic every few months to prevent over-exfoliating your skin. (Men who are shaving with
a razor, you are already exfoliating your skin a lot )
- Apply these products all down your neck, don’t stop at the jaw line! Cleanse all the way
down your neck as well.
